Its hard but fun. You will need to memorize the levels in order to get through. If you run out of lives the continue system lets you get back to the same level. Music is good and the game looks beautiful. The weapons and secrets make the game even better. It feels like every design choice was well made. The only thing that felt off is that the hardest level for me was in the middle of the game. I strongly reccomend this game to people who don't mind a challenge.. There's a reason we left Gradius behind. It's a really faithful remake and is beautiful and crisp and etc. But why did you have to remake a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game?. A love message to the 80's space shooter games. If you had the chance to enjoy some of the r-type, gradius, darius, thuderforce, etc. games, this is a mandatory buy. If not, this is a mandatory buy, as it compiles a lot of the best from those. Man, this is Hydorah even better and with 2 players! Also we owe this to Locomalito. If you are intrested enough in the genere to be reading this, it's 100% sure you are going to have a ton of fun with this game.Totally recommended.. There's a reason we left Gradius behind. It's a really faithful remake and is beautiful and crisp and etc. But why did you have to remake a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game?. Like Gradius? Like Raiden? Like UN Squadron? Buy it.. This is a great game! Very challenging, but very fun and rewarding! It's also great for couch co-op, which is always more fun. Worth your money. I would pay up to $20 for this awesome of a game. Great soundtrack too!! I wish you could download and listen.. If you love Gradius then your going to want to own this game.Awesome sound track and great replay value, as you can play the game back through on a different route in places. There's not to much to say about this game but go and buy it, as it pays homage to Gradius as I mentioned. And for the price it's a bargain, and to be honest speaking for myself I would of payed £12 for this awsome shoot em up!.😊. This is the sickest traditional shoot-em-up I've ever played.Super Hydorah is oozing with quality. I won't bore you by talking about how great the artwork & music are, just look at the trailer & demo for those. What I would like to mention is how incredibly dialed in the game play is. These guys have mastered the art of making 5-10 projectiles a serious threat, they don't need 5,000 bullets to do that. The game design carefully rewards spatial awareness, reaction time & tactics, over rote memorization and extreme precision. It's difficult, you're gonna die a lot, but the deaths come with minimal frustration. Almost every time I've died, it's provoked a shrug and a "Alright that was a fair call" sentiment. I would say this game is both more difficult, and more fair than any of the great classics, gradius 1/2/3, salamander/life force, etc. 2 player mode is great, if you've got someone that will sit on the couch with you for some good old fashioned gradius fun, definitely give it a try.The ship uprade system is overall very good. The weapon choices you have before each level are meaningful decisions. Death only knocks a little bit of power off your primary & secondary weapons, which is a lot nicer than sending you back to the stone age every time you fly into a wall. It's difficult at first to build up many speed & special attack upgrades, but the game is managable even when your ship has lost most of it's power. I've had to resort to killing most bosses on my first play through with a peashooter and no speed upgrades left.I've got a couple minor nitpicks, but they're mostly subjective stuff and shouldn't discourage anyone from trying the game out:1) I wish there was a little more red & blue color on the ships in 2P mode. When you're flying level, there's only about 5 pixels of identifying color which can make it difficult to tell them apart, especially if your housemate is RUDE and insists on equipping the same weapons as you for each level.2) It's a little difficult to experiment with special weapons when you're a beginner. I see the need to decrement your special weapon charge count by one on death, that's a good call. But maybe you could be kind enough to only decrement us down to 1 in stead of all the way to 0. ;). The original Hydorah is free. Go play it. It rocks. This game is like that game, except Super. Super as in expanded upon and re-balanced in every way you could probably ever want. Shields are just as available as Turbos and Powers, there's more indication when those and the level-up pieces are about to change, the regular bullets are more visible, your controls are better, etc. There are more levels, more weapons, and many changes made to adapt to this. Additionally, there are some changes made to the old levels and even a few bosses just because they could and should be made. If you like Hydorah but don't own this game, you are cheating yourself. And if the final boss of that version lowers your opinion of the game, then just... don't worry. This version fixes it.*Doesn't count as spoilers because I didn't tell you anything about the actual boss*. Almost as if the Gradius creators had made a tribute to their own game and decided to make it better in some ways, as the power up collection system adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay. Perfect music on top of Perfect everything, now with selectable difficulty so anyone can enjoy.
